We love our microplane grater - it's actually much better than we expected. We didn't even know we needed one, but we use it for everything - nutmeg, cinnimon, other spices, and it zests a lemon perfectly with no pith. Now our very favorite thing to do is to add a little nuttiness to baked goodies by microplaning a walnut or two on top of low-fat baked goods to add a tiny bit of richness - it comes out as a fine dusting of nuts, perfect for topping muffins and whatnot. And we've never nicked our fingers using it, even when we miss. Really great, much better than I expected.
